Rider Education

My name is Bruce Krebs. I have been a member of GWRRA since March of 1995. Presently I hold the position of Chapter Educator for Chapter H, “The Highway Hobo’s”. I have been riding motorcycles for 42 years, starting with a Yamaha 305cc. Presently I own a 2008 Goldwing 1800cc. My wife, Doreen, and I enjoy riding together on day rides as well as week long vacations. This includes our Honeymoon in July of 2009.

I am a former member and educator in Chapter I of GWRRA, and a Life Member (with 43 years) with the Main-Transit Volunteer Fire Department. Due to my affiliation with the fire service, I also belong to Chapter 21 of The Red Knights Motorcycle Club, which I joined in 2004.

Riding with members of our chapter is quite enjoyable for Doreen and I as we all have like interests. That is, FUN, SAFETY, and KNOWLEDGE. Safety is something I strongly believe in and this starts first by being in the right frame of mind and then dressing for the occasion.

One of the most important things that we need to do is educate ourselves. We need to learn all that we can about our motorcycles, how it handles, and how we handle it. Another thing we need to educate ourselves in is our personal protective equipment (PPE). Yes even motorcyclists need safety equipment. Ours, however differs from that of other sports, or industries. The Motorcycle Safety Foundation has some excellent resources for this. I have listed some of the articlles they have to offer us. It would be worth a few minutes of your time to read or download these to keep handy. Please see the menus to the left.
There are several levels of rider education in GWRRA. Follow the link for more information on
